She tied you to your chair?

Last night I overheard a conversation between Carter and Cooper that started like this:
Cooper: Carter, you got in trouble today because you had to be strapped to your seat.
Carter: No, I wasn't in trouble; that was just my weight I wear to remind me to stay in my seat.
Mom: What are you talking about?
Carter: I have to wear a weight so I don't get out of my seat...it's a seven pounder!

Imagine my visual here.... apparently his teacher has come up with an apparatus that has a weight you put on your lap and a strap that goes underneath your chair and velcros to the other side of the weight. Carter said he needed it because at work time he always stood up with one knee on his chair. "This just reminds me to sit the right way!"

For some reason I think he likes to wear it. He said kids can use them if they want to but don't have to. I asked him who else in class uses them he said, "Just me and Josh" to which Cooper replied..."Oh Josh, he's the naughty one." So I guess Carter and Josh have to wear seatbelts to get their work done!:)

well let's just hope she doesn't keep a roll of duct tape in the drawer for those she thinks talk too much... i'd still like the authority to use one of those on the school bus - i'd need alot of them...

I talked to one of my daycare parents today who is an elementary school teacher and she said that such a device should never be used without parent's knowledge and written consent first! Guess I will be calling!
