A First Time for Everything

I have always thought that someday someone should invent a camera that you can carry in your brain... so you always have one just in case. There are so many times I've wished I'd had something like that to record little things that happen so fast that they are over by the time you can run and get a camera. Had I had one of these devices implanted in my brain, these are the photos you would have seen posted on my blog this morning. (A little back story to set the scene; I had to pick up the boys in the cities last night after work because they went to an audition for their agency yesterday.)
The first photo would be of me and my boys walking through knee-high grass on the side of I-94 at approximately 10:30pm last night. (Yes...I ran out of gas just before the Sauk Centre exit. Hopefully the inventor of the brain camera remembered the flash, because it was really dark.) What a fun adventure I kept telling the boys...and reminding myself. Photo number two of the night would be the boys posed in front of the police car of the nice officer who gave us a ride back to our vehicle and helped mom out when the nozzle of the gas can didn't work and gas started pouring all over the road and me. As we were climbing into the back of the sqaud car the boys were mortified that someone would think we were being arrested. Oh and we can't forget photo number three which would be of mom eating an entire box of Krispy Kremes the rest of the way home...nothing like a little sugar coma to calm me down. It was the first, and hopefully the last time I will drive the vehicle right out of gas. Apparently the miles remaining range is more like a suggestion.

Funny! Christians ran out of gas on our way back from Sioux Falls. It was interesting!
What's this about your kids belonging to an agency?!?!?

WCCO radio reported this morning that they finally caught the guy you had seen the officers searching for near st. cloud.. he was armed and resisted arrest...had to taser him...now that woulda added a tad bit more excitement to the boy's adventuresome day.... it's just funny cuz all the way back to Mpls on Sunday night Carter could not quit asking me questions about robbers with guns and if the cops are out all night in Chaska . . .then you run outta gas and the poor kid ends up in a squad car anyway !

Yah...the whole way on our walk to the gas station Carter kept asking me if their were any robbers around there and I of course said no way. Then when we were riding with the cop I made the mistake of mentioning all the squad cars lined up on I-94 so he showed us on his computer map where all the cars were and told us about the guy in the woods with the gun that they were searching for. Poor Carter...he couldn't stop talking about it and asking questions about it and wondering how far away it was and he said we better watch the news when we got home so we could see if the bad guy was caught.
