the weekend

We had a great weekend at our house... reason #1 is that it started with a little solo-vacation for me on Friday. I headed down to the cities for the Junk Bonanza... lots of good finds. I also had time to shop Alberville, IKEA, and Mall of America.

I stayed at one of my all-time favorite hotels... the Sofitel.

And then had to get back on Saturday because Katelyn was going to her very first Homecoming! Hard to believe she is old enough for that... doesn't seem like that long ago that I was shopping for homecoming dresses.

She went with a group of friends and had a great time... Even though dad tried to give her "slow-dancing" lessons she SAYS she didn't dance with any boys. :)

While she was dancing her socks off, the rest of us headed over to friends' for a fall party, complete with hay rides, playing with kittens, and a bon-fire!

In other news... Katelyn auditioned for the play (Peter Pan) at Moorhead High School last week, and found out yesterday that she got a part! We are so excited for her and can't wait to see her perform!

1st day of school

Yes it was two days ago, but better late than never! And I even took a photo, even though my kids didn't want me too. 3rd grade for Kennedy, 5th grade for the boys, and 9th grade (HIGH-school!) for Katelyn.

Here are so more pics from our vacation! AND.... guess what??? They were not taken with my cell phone! I don't think I've taken a photo of my kids in the last six months that wasn't with my cell phone ... yay for me!

vacation so far...

We are spending the week at Grand View Lodge on Gull Lake. We got here yesterday and got checked into our cabin, ate supper at Zorbaz and then headed over to the water slide and pool at the main lodge. This is the beach and playground that is just outside our cabin.

Here is Cooper this morning, practicing his canoeing skills... on dry land.

The Glacier Waters Spa... where I had the best massage of my life this morning!

Our kids would make the worst campers. With the miles and miles of beaches and fun outdoor activities available here, they chose to spend ALL day at the pool and waterslide again. Tim went golfing and I sat on a chair on the beach reading my book looking at this view. What a relaxing day!
Princess Emme was suppose to stay at a kennel this week while we were gone, and we dropped her off yesterday morning before we left. I cried pretty much all afternoon thinking about how scared she was when we left and what an awful week it was going to be for her stuck in that concrete cage (Yes... I AM aware that she is a dog... but she is still my baby...) Grandma Sandi came to the rescue and went to pick her up today. Thanks Grandma!
